A deroontration was held in memory of the workers who were killed during the strike riot on the Rand in the early part of July of last year. The Rev. Mr Balmswortb, addressing a vast audience delivered a remarkable speech, during which he referred to the deportation uf the leaders of the last general strike. "Every industrial home," be said, "will rejoice at the termination of the Botha-Smuts regime. If Christ Himself came to South Africa He would be deported."
