OTOROHANGA MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Own Correspondent. » The longest sitting for some months of the above court was held on Thursday, Mr E. S. Rawßon, S.M., presiding. The legal gentlemen present -* were Messrs Hosking, Pbillips.Arrawsmitb, Finlay, Luxford, and Stewart (Bamford and Brown). Two charges, one of assault and one of obscene language, were brought by Mrs McColl against Mokena Patupatu. Mr Lux ford appeared for plaintiff and Mr Hosking for defendant. A counter charge of assault, M. Patupatu v. Mrs McColl, was also laid. Owing to the absence of a material native witnesß and Constable Robinson, who whb attending the Hamilton S a pre me Court, the cases were adjourned. .Wharekura, Mr Phillips, v. Keene Te Huaio, Mr Luxford—claim for pig and harness. Evidence of paintiff and wife was taken at length, and at conclusion a settlement was effected by defendant undertaking to return certain'harness and pay £3 damages. H. Isaac, Mr Arrowßmith, v. Tawh'r Erueti, Mr 'Philips, claim for goods ; supplied and money lent,total amounting to £3O. Evidence of plaintiff and daughter was taken at length,, and the case was adjourned for production of books showing original sentries. ■ M. H. Clarke,: Mr Phillips, v. F. Morley, Mr Luxford.—Claimed £lB for cattle sold by defendant] at Te Awamutu. The defence was that ac-'"" counts were squared by defendant assisting to effect a bblb of £ plaintiff's property. The evidence of Messrs Clatk* and Osmond was called for plaintiff, and the Magistrate, after hearing defendants story, gave judgment for plaintiff without calling ~ on counsel. Defence Act Breach.—A Territorial at Otewa was fined 5a and costs for failing to attend drill. Mrs McColl, Mr Stewart, v. M. ' Cowley, Mr Finlay.—-A claim, for damages alleged for breach of covenant under lease; Plaintiff's solicitor elected to be non-suited. - j
