WARNING TO PUBLIC; , A ERSTRICTED SERVICE. It has been known for some time past that prompt measures were necessary in order to place the electric light installation of the town on a proper footing, and the Borough Council has been considering the position with a view to action The foundation of the engine has been causing a great amount of trouble, and so bad has it become withn the last few days that, acting on the advice of the engineer, the Council has decided to take immediate atep3 to remedy the trouble, otherwise a serious breakdown causing prolonged interruption of the service is imminent A special meeting of the Council was held this morning, and it was decided to undertake the work on the foundation at once. This means throwing the engine out of commission, and the adoption of an expedient to provide restricted household service while the work is being done. There will be no street lights after to-night for several dayß, h ut it ia hoped to be able to provide sufficient current to gife one light apiece to the various household consumers. Ad advertisement is published in another column requesting consumers to co-operate with the Council in the matter
