SENSATIONAL AFFAIR.
YOUNG MAN SHOT BY CHINAMAN. WHO WAS ANNOYED BY LARRIKINS. 8y Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyrlgai Invercargill, Thursday. A sensational affair occurred here about midnight, Hector Morrison, 20 I years of age, being shot dead by a Chinaman named Lock Kin, aged 69, who ke'eps a boarding house in Leet street. The Chinese had been subjected to frequent annoyance by larrikins, and had sent for police assistance last night. When a constable arrived he found Morrison lying dead in a pool nf blood on the footpath. It was stated that after the door had been battered and two windows broken, the accused went out With a gun and fired to scare the intruders, not seeing Morrison, in the darkness. Accused was before the Court today charged with murder. He was remanded to a later date.
