The opening games of the competition under the auspices o| the Maniapoto Rusjby Union, wore played on Saturday last. Te Kuiti met Otorohanga on the latter's ground and Buttered defeat by 8 points to nil after a good even game. Ongarue were to hnve m.t Nehenehe at Te Kuiti, but allowed the match to go by default. On Saturday Te Kuiti and Nehcneho meet on the local ground, and Otorol.nnga journeys to Origarne. The following players will represent the Nehenehenui club against Te Kuiti on Saturday next: —Full-beck, W. Hetet; three-quarters, T. Hetet, Tuheka Hetet, T. Andereon; fiveeighthß, Rehe Nikora, Ahnu FVreniki; half, Wetini Hotu; forwards, T. Poutawera, wing, W. Nui, M. Muraahi, Rehe Hoori, Kau, E. Sutherland, W. Matehaere, N. Hohepa. Emergencies.—Backs, Wirihami, M. Mannwaiti; fowarda, H. R. Heke, Tame Manawaiti.
