A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

The report of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, which appeared in our last issue, and which is to be submitted to the annual general meeting of ttia Association this evening, contained food for thought on the part of both town and country residents. That there is room I for euch an Association in this district there can be no doubt, but hitherto the work of organisation has been left in the hands of a few. The public support, without which no Association can hopa to be Euccessful, has not been so widespread and liberal as the executive had every right to expect. It may be contended that the Association was rather ambitious in promoting a two-day show so early in its career, but had the public Bupport

been accorded as freely to laßt show as to the preceding one there would have been every reason to justify the extension. However, in deciding to recommend a return to the one-day show the executive has been wisely directed. It must be borne in mind, however, that the success of the show does not depend on the fact of it being either a one-day or two-day function. There is just as much danger of the show being a frost on one day as on two, unless the venture meets with the all-round public support which the executive has every right to expect. We trust this fact will be kept in mind by all and sundry when the steps are being taken to promote next season's function under the auspices of the A. and P. Association.
