AWAKING COUNTY COUNCIL.

Thß ordinay meeting of the Council was held at Waitatiguru on Saturday, April 11th. Present—Crs. Leech (chairman), Boddy, Patterson, Old, Thorns and Ksliy.

Mr Armitage wrote asking that tha third} from his section ba a lowed to accrue for tho purpose of erecting a sheep bridge across the Tawarai£. river. —On the motion of Crs Tatterson and Kelly it was resolved that the clerk write to Mr Armitage asking him to forward a plan showing the relative position of his section, the Tawarau river and tha place where he wishes to have the bridge erected. The Public Works Department wrote with reference to the control of the Mahoenui-Kawhia South road. The Valuation Department wrote intimating that a fresh valuation of the County will be undertaken next year. The Public. Work Department wrote in reply to a request that the formation of the Mangakokopu road be completed, to tho effect that a3 there is no vote for thin work on the current financial year's appropriation, the request cannot be complied with. The Public Works Department wrote showing the amount of thirds accrued on Mr Whitcombe's section 2, block 2, Wharorino.—On tha motion of Crs Boddy and Kelly it was resolved that it be left in the hands oH the chairman and Cr Patterson to arrange for an engineer to. supervise the erection of a bridge to Whitcombe'B section.

A communication was received from the Public Worka Department dealing with the width of road formation in the Awakino County. The necessary resolutions and in connnection wtih signing and affixing the seal of the County to the debentures for the Waitanguru loan were passed. Crs Patterson and Kelly moved that the resolution relating to the taking over by the Council of the roads of the Marokopa township be rescinded and that the Council taku over theee roadß.—Tha motion was lost, Cra Kelly and Patterson voting for, and Crs Boddy, Old and Tboms against. On the motion of Crs Old and Kelly it waß resol red that the dog registration fees for the County be as follows:—Sheep and cattle dogs up to the number of four for any one person each dog 2a 6d, for each one over four 10s, for all sporting dogs, terriers, etc. 10s. The clsik was instructed to call for tenders for the supp'y of dog collars. On the motion of Crs Boddy and Old it was .resolved that the Awakino County Council invite the Prime Minister and the Minister for Public Works to be the guests of the Council on their forthcoming- visit to the district, and that they be asked to extend,if possible, their trip through to Te Kuitl. It was also resolved that the members of the Clifton County Council and the Waitara Chamber of Commerce be invited to accompany the Ministerial party to Awakino to ho the guests of the Awakino County there. The resolution passed at the special meeting held on March 7th, relating to the division of the County into fresh ridings was duly confirmed

The next m3eting of the Council will be held at Waitanguru on Saturday, May 9tb, at 3.30 p.m.
