STRAYING STOCK.
Sir, —I noticed that in a recent issue of the Chronicle you announced the fact that a poundkeeper had been appointed by the Te Kuiti Borough Council. It would interest many to know whether he has yet taken up his duties The number of horses, principally draughts, that; roam the streets and foo T paths of Ta Kuiti, both by day and night, is simply scandalous. It seems to be of little use the borough putting footpaths into decent order when horseg of all kinds are allowed to stray about the town. On Thursday evening last five draught horses were straying on the footpath within a few yards of ths Borough Council Chambers, and this at five o'clock in the evening. Surely something can be done to rectify this. — I aip, etc., A RATEPAYER, Te Kuiti, April 17th, 1914.
