COMPAKISON WITH LAST YEAR,
Figures showing the revenue and expenditure of various sections of the railways in the Dominion are published in last week's Gazette. The position fir the expired portion of the financial year, and comparison with 1913, may be summarised as under:—l9l4—North Island, revenue £2,104,269, expenditure £1.425,661; South Island revenue £1,645,347, expenditure £1,206,676. Total revenue £3,659,617; total expenditure £2,632,373. 1913—North Island, revenue £1,909,561, expenditure £1,305,730; South Island, revenue £1,699,981, expenditure £1,176,048; total revenue £3,609,543; total expenditure 2,481,780.
