FIRE AT WAVERLEY.
BLOCK TOTALLY DESTROYED. [BY TELEGBAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wanganui, This Day. A block of buildings at Waverley, known as Dixon's was destroyed by fire at 3 o'clock this morning. The outbreak originated in Moore and Fitzsimmon's barbers' saloon, and spread to Dalton's, land agerrt, Eames', chemist, Merriman, jeweller, and Dixon's hall. The block and contents were destroyed. Cathei's stationery premises ignited and sustained much damage, the stock being practically ruined. The Bank of New Zealand was only saved by strenuous efforts. The insurancas on the buildings are £1950, and stock £I4OO.
