ARIA SPORTS CLUB.

Own Correspondent,

The Aria Bports meeting was held on Thursday of last week, and attracted a large crowd form all around. The weather turned out better than it promised over night, so that the treasurer's heart would be glad when the shillings were counted. The races were in some cases a runaway win for one man who had a day out. Evidently the handicapper did not know much about Faulks' abilities, and treated him much too liberally. He was rehandicapped in the mile, otherwise he would -most likely have won that event as well. The absence of any wood events was very noticeable as they have taken a great hold on country meetings. The Ladies' Bracelet was the most exciting event of the day, three heatß and a final having to be run to find the .> inner. The secretary (Mr Nugent) had his hands full to keep things going but was always courteous to all enquirers. The booth did good business and was in the hands of Mis Telfar, of Aria. Chief results are as follow :

100 yds Handicap. Box and Te Mata dead heat 1, Ros* 3.

Hop-Stepand Jump. —R. Allan 42.8. 1, W. Petersen 41.3, 2. Half-mile.—Faulk, 35yds, 1; Kennedy, 35yds, 2. An easy win, though Kennedy was coming fast at the finish. Best Hunter.—Mr Sharpies' Rainbow 1, Dr Jenkins' Warriur 2. There was some splendid jumping by the placed horses, very little being between them.

220 yds Handicap.—Faulk, 22yds, 1; Ross, 18yds, 2; Smith. 18yds, 3. This was another easy win for Faulk.

120 yds Hurdles.—Faulk, owes syds, 1: Kennedy, owes Byds, 2; Petersen, owes syds, 3. Won by 10 yards. Married Ladies' Race. —Mrs A. Brough 1, Mrs Jorgensen 2. There were seven competitors. The winner had a bit to spare at the finish.

Ladies' Bracelet.—R. Coburn 1, Pratt 2. The winner's agility gained him chains, the way he mounted and dismounted being an eye-opener.

One-mile Handicap. Kennedy, 100 yds, 1; Chatfield, 100 yds, 2. Ken nedy displayed good judgment as it appeared to be Chatfield's race till Kennedy came with a great burßt of speed, and caught him a few yards from home.
