RANGITOTO ROAD EXTENSION.
SURVEY DEPARTMENTS' ATTITUDE. The following letter has been re ceived by the Waitomo County Council, in reply to the application to have a Governor's warrant issued for taking a road through certain native owned property on the RangitoU block in order to join up the Rangitoto road from Te Kuiti with the rose! put through the Crown settlement from Otorohanga. The land through which the proposed road would be taken is B oecupied by Europeans whose only moans of access will be the new road: — "In reply to your memo, of the 17th ult , I hove to state that the settlement referred to is already pro vided with legal means of access, and I nm not disposed to consider tho application favourably. What proposals have your Council to make aa regards funds for the construction of the road proposed?— Chief Surveyor."
