STRIKE AFTERMATH.
UNION OFFICIALS ATTACKED. STABBED FROM BEHIND. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, This Day. A sensational affair occurred on the waterfront last night. At the conclusion of a meeting of the new Watersiders' Union held for the examination of ex-strikers who had applied for aamisßion, Messrs Millar and Woods, two members of the executive, on leaving the building, were attacked from behind with what ii believed tc be a pocket knife. Subsequently, a Swede named Harry Magnusson, an ex-strkier, was arrested on a charge of assault. Neither Miller nor Wood was seriously injured. A FIERCE ATTACK. Later. Magnussen, fiercely attacked G. Wood, president of the new Waterside Workers' Union, S. Rickards, secretary, and J. Miller member of the executive, with a clasp knife. Magnuasen was a member of the old union and was disappointed in his application for membership of the new body.Miller received a wound in the back, Rickards ducked and escaped, and Wood warded off the blow with his left arm the coat sleeve being pireced. The assailant was promptly arrested.
