CANTEEN SCANDALS.
*~« London, Monday. At the hearing of the canteen bribery charges Sawyer gave evidence that Lipton'a were forced to do what other contractors did. They lost several Salisbury Plains contracts because they refused to give as much as the others. Money was promised to the quartermasters of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and the Royal Scots Fusiliers, and it was suggested that Finn would be able to supply the canteens with margarine which gave as good a return.
