N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.

MANGAORONGA BRANCH. Own Correspondent. A meeting of the above branch was held on 9th inst., at the schoolhouse, Mangaoronga. There were present Meßsrs Sircombe (chairman), Gadsby, Disher, Somerville, Lurman, Hoskins, Keating, Farmer, Prendergast, Abercrombie, and Swainson. Correspondence as received and forwarded was dealt with. A letter was received from the Maniapoto Maori Land Board granting five acres of land at Maihiihi for a school site. The section has now been surveyed by Mr Wilson, Government surveyor. With regard to the township correspondence was read to the effect that it would be situated in block 59, which has now been acquired by the Government from the native?. The secretary stated having interviewed Mr Young, member for the district, and the Minister of Public Works with reference to the Mangao-ronga-Ranginui road. The Minister promised that the amount granted for this road would be authorised, and the work begun immediately. It was decided that the annual picnic of the Rangiatea and Maihiihi settlers now be held under the auspices of the Farmers' Union, and that the picnic be held on the 16th inst. Mr George Budge was elected picnic sceretary; Mr Abrecrombie assistant secretary; and Mr Sircombe treasurer. Committees were appointed for ground and sports. Mr Frank Corboy was elected general supervisor for the day. Member's subscription was fixed at 10s. Mr Disher kindly placed his waggon and horses at the disposal of the committee.
