TWO GIRLS BURNED.
SALVATION ARMY HOME DESTROYED. By Telegraph:.—Press Association.—Copyright Brisbane, Tuesday. The Salvation Army Home for Girls at Taringa, a suburb of Brisbane, destroyed by fire this morning. Owing to the hold the fire gained the inmates could not escape from the burning building except by jumping from the upper storey. Two girls were burned to death, and one subsequently died from injuries. Six other inmates have also been injured. A CALLOUS ADMISSION. Received Tuesday, 9.20 a.m. Brisbane, Tuesday. After the fire at the Salvat.on Army Industrial Home for women at Taringa, a marripd woman named Martindale, an inmate of the Home, surrendered to the police and confessed that she started the fire. She also admitted to thrice previously attempting to burn the home. There were 33 inmates. The fire secured a strong hold when discovered.
