RADIUM AND CANCER.

A COSTLY CURE. New York, Tuesday. Radium to tbe value of £20,000 baa been temporarily embedded in the shoulder of Mr Robert Bremner, a Congressman of New Jersey, in an attempt to cure an extensive cancerous growth. Dr Howard Kelly the famous surgeon, operated on the atien. He inserted the radium in 11 rubber line'd tubes, cocaine being used to deaden the pain. It is expected that the treatmens will result in the degeneration of the cancer cells being paused by tbe gamma rays of the radium, the alpha and beta raya being filtered out by the tubes.
