COUNTY BOUNDARIES.
The Editor. Sir, —Some time ago there appeared in your columns a letter ot the above subject and signed by L, G. Verry, Haku. This letter, I take it, was written with the idea of starting discussion, and 1 had hoped some abler pen than mine would have carried it on. .Now, sk, I cordially agree with Mr Verry that the time is ripe for a readjustment of boundaries, but I not think any body of Waitomo ratepayers would seriously entertain his suggestion; that all that portion of Waitomo County south of the Mairoa special rating area be merged into tee Awakino County. I, for one, do not see that we have anything in common with either the southern portion of Awakino Cuunty, the traffic of which goes towards New Plymouth, or the northern portion where the traffic either goes to Kawhia or to Te Kuiti via the Arapae. To my mind the solution of the difficulty is an entirely new county comprising the main Te Kuiti-Awakino road from the Te Kuiti Borough boundary to the point where the traffic starts to go towards New Plymouth, and all the feeders of this road, stopping in every case when the traffic goes the opposite way. This would give a good workable county every rateDayer of which would be directly interested in the main road. Hoping the ratepayers concerned will give this suggestion rpasonable consideration. —I am, etc., H. W. BATTLEY. Mangaotaki.
