FARMERS' UNION.

THE CENTRAL EXECUTIVE. The quarterly meeting of the Advisory Committee of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, Auckland province, was held this week, when there were present —the president (Major Lusk). Messrs Bank-*, Bowler, Duxfield, Rose, Boddie, Ambury, Makgiii, Hodgson, and Bennett. Bord of Agriculture. The Prime Minister wrote promising careful consideration of a suggestion from the union that the New Zealand Farmers' Union should be given representation on the proposed Board of Agriculture. Mr Duxfield pointed out that the Government had recognised the A. and P. Association, and the fact that no official recognition had been granted to the Farmers' Union was, in his opinion, a direct alight on their organisation as a non-political body. He moved that the Dominion office of the union be written to asking what the position was, and expressing disappointment if no provision for representation had been made. —The resolution was carried unanimously. Organisation.—After a lengthy discussion in committee the following resolution was carried unanimously: - "That this executive is of opinioon that the time is now ripe for making a formal move in the organising of the union; that with a view to that end the secretarial staff should be strengthened; and that the various members of the executive take every opportunity of extandng the union by forming new branches and strengthening those already in operation." Appeal to the Ladies.—At the instance of Mr Makgill, it was decided that a circular letter be sent to all branches suggesting that the social and educational functions of the htanches be more developed, especially in the direction of getting the ladies of the farming community to take a more prominent part in all matters, and asking them to form committees to discuss means of mutual improvement, the forming of magazine clubs and the promoting of social intercourse of an improving nature to interest the young people, and send their reports U> the provincial head office.
