The English welter-weight champion, Johnny Summers, was advertised to meet "Pal" Brown on Saturday, but he has mysteriously disappeared from bis quarters, leaving word (hat he does not intend to fulfill his engagement. A rather interesting ease wan heard at the Otorohanga Court on Thursday in which H. Westmacott sued Barker and Wright for interest under a mortgage. The dispute arose from the fact that the document was confirmed by the board on a certain date and some time elapsed before the seal of the hoard was affixed. The plaintiff contended the interest wardue from the time of confirmation. while the defendants held that it should run from the time at which the seal was affixed. Mr Finlay appeared for the plaintiff and Mr Lloyd, of Dantievirke, for the defendants. Judgment was reserved.
