HONIKIWI.

Own Correspondent. A sign of lbs progressiveriess of the district is to be seen in the spacious new woolsbed lately erected by Mr Torn Palmer. The shed is in every respect and many far larger properties can show nothing so good. The strike caused a certain amount of inconvenience here as elsewhere. Shearing- be supended to'enable some of the settlers to respond to the urgent appeal for assistance. Most of them have now returned and farming operations are, in full swing again. The county engineer recently paid us a flying visit, and, no doubt, wa shall shortly see the result in a few much-needed improvements to _ our roads and bridges. The wall-painted finger-posts newly erected at all the junctions along the road should prove a great hoon to the travelling public.
