The half-yearly meeting oi the Druids Pride of Te Kuiti Lodge is to be held on Tuesday next at 7.30 p.m. and a cordial invitation is extended to all visiting brethren. It should be noted that the place of meeting is now St. Luke's Hall, King street, Mesrss Pettigrew and Lusty advise in this issue that they are booking orders for Christmas cakes. Reference to the advertisement will give particulars as to the varied assortment. Messrs Pettigrew and Lusty have taken over the business lately conducted by Mr J. Fickling, Te Kuiti. In connection with the protests entered by various local bodies agaist the clause in the Bill dealing with the installing of warnings at level crossings at the cost of local bodies, it should be mentioned that the clause was deleted from the measure pror to the protests being made by the King Country councils. The steamer Moana has sent a wireless message stating that eleven of the crew of the schooner Alvaredo ; bound to Autofagasta, are marooned on Easter Island, in the Eastern Pacific. After abandoning the Alvaredo the captain and several volunteers sailed in a lifeboat from Easter Island for Papeete, nearly 2400 miles away, leaving the others to await a rescue.
