FARMERS' CONSTABULARY CORPS.

A definite step has been taken in the direction of forming a Farmera' Union Constabulary Corps, to be ready at a moment's notice in ease of emergency. With this object in view a Provisional Committee was formed on November 21st, to draft rules and regulations. This committee consisted of Majors Lusk, Tattersall, Wynyard, McKenzie, Jolly, Captain • Colbeck, Colonel Ryder, Captain Herroid, and Mr Ewen McGregor. The I objects of the corps are stated to be (ho preservation of law and order, and the preservation of the rights of farmers. Members must be over twenty-one years of age, farmers and others directly interested in farming, and profesional men residing in country districts. the following is the form of the declaration of allegiance of the organisation:—" I desire to join the Farmers* Union Constabulary Corps, and I undertake, so long as I remain a member of the corps, at all times to maintain discipline and to obey the comandant-general and the officers representing his authority; to acknowledge the Executive Council as the supreme governng body of the corps, and to make myself acquainted with and duly observe the rules, regulations, and instructions now or hereafter authorised or promulagted by order of the Executive Council. 'God Save the King.' " The executive will appoint an organiser for each district, and members shall wear a distinctive badge showing the New Zealand ensign with the motto': "God and Our Rights."
