_ ©—© ORDINARY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board wag held on Thursday. The Commissioner of Crowr Lands. Mr G. IL Bullard, presided, and other members present were: Messrs J. Eeslop, J- Rattenbury, A. Coxhead and G. J. Ryan. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. The application of W. G. French for sections 14 and 16, block 6, Aria, was approved. Applications for section 3, block 15, Ohura were dealt with as follows: A. C. Bridges, admitted; A. Bradshaw and H. Bradshaw, rejected for their net having sufficient means; F. J. Leonard and R. S. Nicholson, admitted; and R. White, rejected, he being not landless. Additional applications ss under were approved: Edward Nelly, section 12. block 7, Waro; Louis Sargman, section 15, blcck 7, |Waro; Sidney Hirst, section 8, block 14. Aria; Geo- ; Salt, section 9, block 8, Waro; Ernest Green, section 4 block 1, Mapara; Arthur Wile, section 7, block 4. Aria; W. S. Parker, section 11, block 7, Waro; H. C. Bunt, section 1, block 10, Mapara; E. Bennett, section 22, block 2, Aria; R. E. Till, section 6, block 4. Aria; Porter and Rawlinaon, section 7, block 14, Mahoe. The application of Donald Graham for section 1, block 10, Mapara, was rejected on account of Graham not being landless. TRANSFERS. Applications for approval to transfer were dealt with as follows: The request by R. J. Maclintock to take A. S. Maclintock into partnerjship in Bection 7. block 11, Tangitu, was acceded to Considerable discussion ensued over an application made by A. H. Ellicott. Previously Ellicott had received the board's consent to transfer section 1, block 3, Tangitu, of 593* acres, to A. J. Williams, at a consideration of £4019, but the transfer fell through. He now desired to transfer to A. McBeth at £4168 10s, stating that further improvements to the value of £l5O had been effected The value of the improvements by the selector's declaration was £lßl2. T':e general opinion was that the price asked was excessive, but it was resolved to approve of the transfer if the transferee assured the board that be had inspected the place and gone fuliy into the matter LEASES AND SUB-LEASES. It was decided to grant a ieaae of section 23, block 15, Pcuaiu, to J. Willie, the adjoining owner, for a term coterminous with the lease of his present, section at a rental based on the same value. The application of F. C. Kenny to sub-lease section 18, block 1, to Dougal McLymont was approved; Messrs Thomson, holders of section 24, block 13, Ohura, were granted an allotment of 10 acres of section 1, block 2, Heao, under o.r.p. at £5 per acre. GENERAL. W. H. Jones applied to"abandon section 8, block 16, Mahoe.—Granted. It was decided that W. J. Logan, holder of section 1, block 5, Aria, be given notice of forfeiture, as he had taken no notice of requests for information as to the state of improvements and was believed to have abandoned the section. The board decided to cancel the license of Mrs N. B. Sheehy for section 11, block 7, Ohura, she having abandoned her interest. The question of offering under optional conditions an area of 5630 acres in Piopiotea West was deferred for the ranger's valuation. The tender of W. H. Foreman for portion of stock reserve, section 8, block 8, Mimi, was declined. The matter was diseussei with the rangers, and it was decided to let the whole section to W. Schmidt at a rental of 25s per annum for the whole of the land. Licenses were issued to James Andrew, section 13, block 1 ; Tangitu, and J. M. Amrein, section 9, block 13, Mapara. A lease over section 2, block 3, Totoro, was granted to R. Johnson. Section 6, block 1, Tangitu, was offered for selection weighted with improvements to the value of £sl 15s, This sum had been received, and as the Crown had claims against the section for the full amount received it was decided that the sum should be paid to the public accout. Another advice from the same source intimated that the Minister of Lands had instructed that a fmtfcer area of 2 acres was to be given as a horse paddock at the Ohura school.
