WAITOMO COUNTY COUNCIL.

ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. The statutory annual meeting of the Waitomo County Council was held today at noon. There were present— Crs Scholes, Berry, Gregg, Jjhnston, Smyth O'Dwyer and Potts. For the election of a chairman for the ensuing year the chair was occupied by the clerk Mr P. Mora. On the motion of Crs O'Dwyer and Gregg, Cr Scholes was proposed, and there being; no other nomination, Cr Scholes was re-eleeted to the position. The half-yearly balace-sheet, which had just been audited, was read by the clerk. The total receipts amounted to £12,980 17s 7d and expenditure £17,402 3s 7d. The cost of administration, amounted to £631 6s .7d, which represents a shade less than 3f per cent, on the amount expended. Cr Smyth, in moving the adoption of the balance sheet, said a very satisfactory state of affairs was disclosed. A large amount of work had been done and the small amount, of the cost of administration indicated how the otaix had carried out its duties. Cr Berry, in seconding the motion, endorsed the mover's remarks and said the position should be appreciated by the ratepayers. The motion was carried without discussion.
