Glover, has given notice to 1 ask the "Prime Minister whether t he will Bet up an independent tribunal to bring about a settlement of the present industrial dispute, such tribunal to report to ths Legislature, and immediate action taken in accordance therewith. In a note to this question Mr Glover says:—"lt is felt strongly that the time has rmne when matters of this kind cannot be left by the- consuming public in the hands of disputing parties alone, whilst street broils may rightly bs stooped by national institutions such as ths police force. The dispute should in every case afterwards be settled in a Court of Equity and Justice. In this case some tribunal should be insisted upon whoso ruling would be accepted by all disputants and the large body of the consuming public." GENERAL LABOURERS' BALLOT. STRIKE PROPOSAL VETOED. Wellington Thursday. The General Labourers 7 Union ballot on the question ol joining the general strike was completed to day. The result was a vote of about three to one against striking.
