AMUSEMENTS.
EMPRESS PICTURES. The star picture for to-night's change of programme is a Pathe coloured drama entitled "The Coquette." Paul Dallon sat with his easel before him drinking in the keen mountain air, Suddenly a shrill scream shattered the silence. Over the side of a steep precipice he and his guide were just able to distinguish a woman lying half concealed by the bracken. He rescues the woman, who is the Countess Lockets. She implores liim to paint her portrait. Paul had been engaged to his cousin Lucy for two years. Jean Valliers was also in love with her, and used foul means to gain his end. He leads Lucy to believe that Paul is in love with the Countess. But in the end the Countess explains everything and Paul and Lucy are re-united. The supporting programme is of the usual high order and includes the latest Gazette.
