A SUSPICIOUS FIRE.
♦ ' INCENDIARISM SUSPECTED. [BY TELEGBAPE. —PBKSS ASSOCIATION. J Auckland, This Day. There appears to have been a deliberate attempt to burn Messrs Campbell and Ehrenfried'a malthouse at Newmarket last night. At 7.45 the woodwork of the kiln was found ignited. The fire brigade was called and the flames extinguished. After the brigade left a further outbreak was discovered among sacks of clinker twenty yards from the previous outbreak. This having been extinguished the police were called and discovered the building bad been visited surreptitiously by the removal of wire netting from the windows left open to allow the malt to dry. The damage was trivial, but in the room over the second fire £3OOO worth of malt was stored.
