Following is the High Commissioner' s cable, dated London, November Bth. quotations unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot: — Mutton.—The market remains firm. Canterbury 4|d, North Island 4£d. Lamb.—Market dull. Canterbury twos ofd. heavyweight fours 4|d, other than Canterbry s£d. Beef. —Market firm, especially for

fores. New Zealand hinds 4£d, forea 3|d; chilled hinds s§d, fores 3id. Butter.—The market is quieter, the high price checking business for best quality. The demand is chiefly for best quality, and there is only a little demand for inferior. No change in prices is reported for Australian, Siberian and Argentine! Danish 130s to 1325, New Zealand 126s to 128s. Cheese. —The market is firmer, with a better demand for Canadian, but no change in prices. The market is steady fo" New Zealand, white and coloured 63s to 645. Canadian cheese stocks at London, Liverpool, Bristol, on November Ist, was 306,000 boxes, against 351,000 for the corresponding period laßt year, but the present prices are on a par, viz., 655. Stock in Montreal on November Ist was 45,406 boxes less than last year. Hemp. —Manila: Market quiet, prices slightly weaker. Spot market steady at £3O 10s; October to December and January to March, £29 10s to £l9 15a. The output from Manila for the week was 31,000 bales. The New Zealand market continues dull. Good fair £2B 15s. fair £25 15s for any position, buyers probably 5s less. The stock at the end of October was 2275 tons.
