Two young ladies. Miss Reiemeyer and Nurse lurk, a visitor from Amtralis, sec out from Napier last week on a 100-mile walk to Taupo (says the Napier Telergaph). They stayed at Eskdale the first night, Te Pohu* the second, and Tarawera the third. From Tarawera to Taupo, a distance of 44 miles, was done in two days, the pair staying the intervening night at Rangiiaika. The read is hilly almost the whole way. and is considered to be one of the worst in the North Island, so that apart from the actual distance of walking, the undertaking was a fairly severe one. Lambing percentages in the Waituna, Rangitikei, district are very satisfactory, and the young stock is in splendid condition. Mortality amongst ewes is almost infinitesimal, and, with iambs' wool at Is 2d per lb tha price obtained by Mr D. Davies sheep-farmers are doing exceedingly well. A Feilding Star reporter was on a farm where 107 per cent, of lambs had been docked, and an extra ;> per cent, had arrived since docking was commenced.
