RECORD BUTTER SHIPMENT.

. FOR LONDON AND CANADA. Very heavy supplies of butter have come forward for shipment this week 'o the Home market and to the Pacific Slope. The arrangement for space provides for 18,000 boxes by the Athenic and 17,000 by the Niagara. With the addition of the 12,000 boxes held in reserve in the freezer for the Niagara, the quantity exported will reach a total of 35,000 boxes, one of the largest shipments yet sent away from the province. From the producer's point of view one of the most gratifying aspects is the rapid development of trade with Canada. It happens that for the present period practically the same quanttiy of butter is being taken by the Niagara for Vancouver as by the White Star steamer Athenic, which is at present loading at Auckland for London. There is a possibility of some slight fluctuation in the figures for the fortnight, but in round figures the totals carried by the vessels for their respective ports will not vary by more than 1000 boxes. As compared with the previous shipment, the total of 35.00U shows very large increase over the 8498 taken by the Ruapehu for London, but this iB accounted for to some extent by the fact that about 12,000 boxes were held for the Vancouver 3teamer. Including 350 boxes taken by the Tahiti for San Francisco, the total quantity exported for the season as 29,295, so that the present shipment shows an increase of 5000 boxes on aggregate for the seasonRecent rains have improved the output to a degree, but farmers want a great dsal mora before any definite indication can be given as to the likelihood of the season being a record one. A cable to hand states that Australasian butter is selling at from 118s to 122s a «wt. Reckoning on the lowest price 1183, the shipment of 35,000 boxes f.o.b. at Auckland, would realise £103,250.
