OHURA VALLEY.

Own Correspondent. At the extraordinary meeting' of the Ohura Co-operative Dairy Co., held at Niho Niho, it was decided to wind up the company, and to appoint the Official Assignee at Auckland liquidator. Otherwise the dairy industry is progressing well, as shown by Messrs Robinson, Williams and (bailey having invested in milking plants. The good spring weather has been Very acceptable, and our roads are drying up well. So far the lambing has not been equal to other years, and although there are some good percentages the lambs appear smaller than previous yearß. Ohura councillors are busy urging the ratepayers to agree to raise Joans for metalling, and We should be able to start at least three roads this summer the Tongaporutu, Waitewhena and Matiere-Miroahuiao. The Waitewhena read widening has now been completed, and has already prove to be the main stock route from Taranaki to Waikato. The necessity for metalling has been forced upon the settlers by the travelling stock destroying the road during this winter. On the main Ohura road the first contract for 1000 yards of burnt papa has been Ist, and the engineer is arranging foij further contracts. Representations having been made to the Postmaster-General re a mail service from Stratford to Te Koura by the various councils along the route A conference was held at Whangamomona when a resolution in support was passed. Owing to the small a r.oun 1, of mail matter passing there is no probability of this service being inaugurated in the near future.
