GROWING PEAS.

I Every grower of Peas knows the [ havoc produced by the small birds, no ! matter what mechanical precautions or devices are taken to keep the birds off the crop, such as "guys," "the ringing of bells," or "the firing of the gun," the birds will have their full toll, which means a drain on the crop and hence smaller returns. Talking the other day about this trouble with a grower who had six acres in Peas, he Baid he had discovered a slpendid remedy for this small bird nuisance. He had been spraying his peas with the Sherviri-Williamß' Sulfur Solution to protect them from Blight, and found that not only did it protect them from disease, but that it kept the birds away as well —they would not go near the Peas. He said he used one gallon of the S.W. Lime Sulfur Solution to 5 gallons of Water, and sprayed about once a week. He considered it true economy to spray frequently. Last year his income from Peas was £25 per acre. He was 30 satisfied with his experience last year that he was going to use the Sherwin-Williams' Lime Sulfur Solution instead of Bordeaux Mixture to protect his Potatoes from Blight. The proportion for Potatoes is about 1 to 75 of water. The Sherwin-Wil-liams' Lime Sulfur Solution can be got from any storekeeper or seedsman in'one gallon and five gallon tins, or 50 gallop barrels. The wholesale agents for New Zealand are Sharland and Co., Ltd., Lome street, Auckland, to whom you should r.'l'iio for booklet, "It Pays to Spraw U)l3."*
