THE RATING QUESTION.
UNIMPROVED SYSTEM ADOPTED
In accordance with the petition recently presented to the Borough Council by a sufficient number of ratepayers, a poll on tho question as to whether the Bystem of rating on unimproved values should be adopted at Te Kuiti was held on Monday. Mr P. Edward Lamb acted bs returning officer, assisted by Mr D. Graham. The poli resulted in a decided majority being cast in fuvour of rating on unimproved valueF, the figures being: Por the proposal ... 120 Against the proposal ... 34 Informal ... 4 Majority for ... i 86 A great lack of interest waß shown in the question aa in evidenced by the fact that only about twenty-five per cent, of those entitled (o vote exercised their privilege.
