There is a good deal of truth in the following paragraph, which is taken from a Sydney Telegraph article on the defeat of the Australian Rubgy team by Wanganui recently:—"There is an interesting aspect of Wanganui's victory, taken in conjunction with Wairarapa's defeat of Taranaki by 18 to 14, South Canterbury drawing with Otago, and Manawatu's brave showing against Taranaki. It means that the secondclass Union teams are a long way better than they have been given credit for. Not one representative from Wanganui, Wairarapa, or Manawatu has been chosen for the New Zealand team to visit America.
