The question of rating on unimproved values was considered by the Borough Council at a spscial meeting held on Mondcy evening, and a ganeral discussion ensued as to whether or not the Council should take any action with regard to the poll to be taken on the subject. After a desultory discussion, in which the majority of the councillors took part, the following motion was carried: — "That this Council expresses itself satisfied with the present system of rating, and that his Worship the May or be requested to convene a *'l leetina of ratepayers to be held on Friday "next, 26th*inst., for the purpose of discussing the question in view cf the poll on the 29th inst."
