TE RAUAMOA.

Own Correspondent.

' The bachelors' ball, which was held in the new hall on Friday of lait week, will long be remembered by married folk and bachelor-3 alike. The latter realising this was perhaps, the only opportunity of extending hospitality towards their married friends, assembled in force, this occasion perhaps being the only occasion when the bachelors "themselves were glad they were so numerous. Much work had to be done. There were many willing hands to do it. The hall was tastefully decorated with nikau ferns and was fe'jtooned with clusters cf clematis. Conspicuous amongst the decorations was the word "Welcome," neatly set in letters of green, the work of one of our artistic acestics to whom we extend our thanks. The music was supplied by Mr Thompson. of Otorohanga, who has proved himgelf a pianist of some ability. Everyone was morn than pleased, and expressed the hope that next time a function is held here Mr Thompson will again visit us. The weather like the music, and other indispena ables of the dance, was till that could be desired. For the good weather the bachelors do not directly claim the credit, but are satisfied it was a sign heaven marked her approval of their efforts to return rospitalitv to their married friends, who have at all times kept an open door to our ardent defenders of celibacy.
