$ In speaking on iishalf of the very influential deputation which waited upon the Premier recently, Canon Gar--1 land pointed out that the request was supported by the Church of England with only two dissent by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church without any dissentients, by ! the General Conference of the Metho- ' dist Church by 11 •"> voter, to ;>s\ and by the Salvation Army. Supporting the resolution of the highest courts of : those churches were ]7• i resolutions ; passed by various organisations reprej senting the lower courts of the churches. The Dominion, in commenting on the mailer, says: "The resolutions of various bodies and organisations associaled with the churches might reasonably have been expected, but the signatures of practically onci-fifth ot the whole electors of the Dominion afford quite unex-
fleeted testimony to the s'rength of the movement. In those circumstances it must be clear to everyone that Parliament cannot afford to ignore the weight of opinion behind tho League's demandn.
