FLYING SCOTCHMAN'S ESCAPE.
A MYSTERIOUS ACCIDENT. London. Monday. Five coaches of the "Flying Scotchman" were derailed at Chevington, Northumberland, in the darkness, while the express was travelling fiftyfive miles an hour. The passengers were severely shaken, and some remarkable escapes were reported. . The wheels wete buried in ballast, which prevented the train overturning. i The 1 permanent way waa torn up for two hundred yards. The cause of th« accident is a mystery. It was possibly due to a subsidence owing to mining operations.
