COLLAPSE OF BUILDING.
HEAVY DAMAGES ESTIMATED. By Telegraph.—Press Association.— Copyright Received Friday, 8.50 p.m. Sydney, FrMay. At an early hour this morning practically tho whole interior of Beard and Watson's large six-storey warehouse, and heavily stocked with high-class furniture, suddenly collapsed. The outer walls alone are standing, the interior being a mixed mass of debriß and broken furniture. During the day some 160 people were employed on the premises, and had the accident happened during work hours, the death roll must have been heavy. Tha fact that the ground floor was undergoing repairs, including the replacing oi some wall work and girders probably accounts for the collnose. The managing director roughly estimates the damage at £40,000 or £50,000.
