HGIH COMMISSIONER'S CABLEGRAM. Wellington, Monday. The following is the High Commissioner's cable, dated September 6th, quotations unless specified are average market prices on spot: — Mutton.—Good demand for all qualities. Prices have slightly advanced for all grades owing to River Plate mutton being in small supply. Canterbury 4gd, heavyweight 4Jd. Lamb.—The market is stpady, but the demand is only moderate. Prices are firmer owing to sellers holding off for higher price?. Canterbury twos s§d, heavyweight fours sd, other than Canterbury 5Jd. Beef. The market is steady, but there is no change in prices. Suppliers of American chilled beef are large. Hindquarters 4Jd, Butter.—There has been no alteration in the market since last week. Cheese.— The market is very firm for Canadian und English. Canadian j 65s to 675, finest English Cheddar 76s to 80s, New Zealand 67s to 80s. The stock of cheese at the end of August in London, Liverpool, and Bristol was 275,000 boxes of Canadian and 2800 cratns of New Zealand. The average in 3tock for the past four years at this date has been 280,000 boxes Canadian and 200 crates New Zealand. Hemp.—The market continues dull. Prices have declined for Manila. The greater part of business has been done by second-hand operators, shippers holding off, but sellers are more reserved. There is a good demand for hemp on spot—Manila £3l to £3l 10s, forward shipment £3O 10s; New Zealand, the market is very quiet, and the demand is chiefly for good fair at £3O 10s, fair grade £25 15b to £26, forward shipments 5s to 10s more. The stock of New Zealand hemp :it August 31st was 2125 lons. The output from Manila for the week Was 21.000 hale*. .
