On Sunday in company with his wife and son he crossed "the river in an oil launch. The weather waß stormy when returning, and they had nearly reached the wharf when Mr Harding fell overboard. His son, aged 17, a powerful swimmer, went after his father and brought him safely ashore. The launch meanwhile drifted away with Mrs Harding. The son swam after and overtook che launch and with difficulty got aboard. Mr Harding waß then seen floating toward them. His wife and son caught him but were unable to pull him into the launch and towed him to the wharf but he was dead on arrival.
