Supplies to the Te Kuiti factory are increasing steadily, and with a continuance of mild weather conditions there is every indication that next month will see the factory in full running. The supplies from baakblock districts are held up by the state of the roads, but the season all round promises to be earlier than usual. Writing to the London Times Mr Hugh D. Mcintosh says there is no chance'of a white wininng the world's boxing chamionship for the next five years. There is no hope for a white gaining the honour while attention is concentrated on the 'production of "black" talent. Luxurious living has caußcd the deterioration of the white, unfitting him for hard work. The Borough Council at its last meeting decided that a vote of the ratepayers be taken on Monday, September 29th, on the question of rating on the unimproved value. This action on the part of the council was decided on the requisition presented by the Ratepayers' Association. The association has decided to hold a public meeting in the" Municipal Hall next Monday evening to discuss the question. The platform will be open to speakers to express their views on the question.
