HONIKIWI.
Own Correspondent. The social life of the district has been dull of late, but it was enlivened on Tharsday, 41th inst. by a very pleasant evening spent at Messrs Parkinson's new residence. About sixty people were present, and a most enjoyable programme was ably carried out by the followng: Songs, by Mrs Harvey, , Misseß Davidson, Kitchen and Mitchell. Messrs Mitchell, Nicholson and M. Parkinson; recitations by the Rev. T. A. Harvey, Misses Pickford, Curtis and Davidson. Messrs Bishop, Pickford and T. Parkinson ; flute solo by Mr Mitchell : selections on the bagpipes were played with great spirit by Mr H. Cameron. Mr H. Benner wa3 in the chair. During the evening a collection was made in aid of a fund to procure an organ for the Te Raumaku school. An excellent supptr was provided, and dancing was kept up tillTa late hour, and the whole evening's 'amusement reflects the greatest credit on the organisers. After the exeptionally early and severe winter we are rejoicing in the warmer weather of an early spring, and the growth on all aides is very noticeable.
