A MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE. REDUCED TO ASSAULT. [hy tixkcjuapii.—ruEss association.] Christhurch, This Day. The charge of manslaughter against Joseph Chapman, warder at Sunn} tide Mental Hospital, in connection with the death of the patient Charlei McMeekin, was reduced to one of assult. The defence denied absolutely the evidence given by Crown witnesses.
The hearing is not concluded.
