TE KUITI RACING CLUB,
The first meeting of the new committee of the above club was held at the Chronicle office on Monday evening, and a considerable amount of important business was transacted. The question of the amount of stakes to be allocated caused considerable discussion, some members being desirous of increasing the stakes to £550, but it was finally decided that the sum of £SOO be the amount and proportioned as follows: Maiden Ea:e £SO, Otorohanga Hack Race £SO, Te Kuiti Cup £llO, Hurdles £7O, Taumarunui Hack £SO, Welter £SO, Robe Potae Stakes £BO, Farewell Handicap £SO. The total increase over last year' 3 stakes amounted to £llO. A slight alteration in the order of running off the events was decided upon, the Hurdle race being placed fourth, thus bringing the Te Kuiti Cup third on the programme. A consisting of Messrs Vercoe, O'Brien and Rothery, was appointed to report on urgent necessary work on the course, and report to the next committee meeting. The report on the sub-committee appointed to interview Mrs Baker re grazing, etc., on the course was presented. The offer of Mrs Baker being accepted it was decided have the proposals embodied in a proper agreement for confirmation.
