WAITOMO CAVES.

Own Correspondent. The weather has been warm and showery of late, and in consequence the grass has begun t) come away. Lambing is now general in the district, and frcm all accounts the new arrivals are a strong healthy lot, and the ewes being on the whole in splendid condition with plenty of milk the youngsters should get a good start in life.

The plough is getting more in evidence around Waitomo every year and quite a large area has been turned over this winter. The dairymen are new getting their sheds and plants into working order V and will soon be in full swing. The cows are beginning to come in, and it will not be long before_ the cream cans will be a familiar sight. Those

who reside some distance from the

metaiied road will be severely handiJB*apped during the fore part of the at least, in getting their cream out, and the extension of the metalling which will be carried out this coming summer will be a boon to them especially. A fair amount of buah is coming down this time. The fine dry winter we have experienced has favoured the bush contractors and good headway has been made with the felling. From the number of sheep which have come into the district this winter it would appear that Waitomo will have a largely increased output of wool to send away thi3 shearing season. .
