i i f fPUBLIC TRUST BILL. WEST COAST RESERVE. Wellington, Tuesday. The House met at 2.:U) p.m. The Commercial Bank of Australia, | Ltd. Bill and the McDougall Trust I Estate Bill were read a second time. The Premier stated so soon as the Commonwealth Government notified that they accepted the reciprocal treaty the House would be informed of the fact. The Royd Gsrliek Committee was granted three weeks' extension of time in which to report. The Local Bodies Loans Bill and State Advances Bill were read a third time. The Methodist Union Bill was put through Committee and passed. The Hon. Mr Herdman moved the second reading of the Public Trust Office Amendment Bill. He said the Bill was based on recommendations of the recent uommisiion, and if passed would make for the efficiency of the office and the security of the public. While congratulating the Minister on the mprovements contained in the Bill, Mr Ngata commented on the absence- from the Bill of any reference to the gn at trust held under 'he West Coast Settlement Reserves Act. Did the Government, he asked, propose to grant the freehold of the leases to the present lessees? The policy of decentralisation suggested by the Minister j was giving way to pressure from the legal profession. In the House in the evening the Public Trust Amenment Bill was read a second time.
The Hon. Mr Herdman moved the second reading of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill, the debate on which was adjourned at 11.2.">, and the House rose.
