ARIA DAIRY FACTORY.

The Weather on Saturday, although very wintry and wet, did not prevent an excellent attendance of the shareholders of the Aria Dairy Company at their annual meeting. The president reviewed the past year's work and congratulated the shareholders, suppliers and manager upon the success. The baalnce-sheet showed sales to have been effected to the value of £4420 12s 2d, leaving a profit for the year of £442 3s 2d. After writing off one-third of preliminary expenses, 5 per cent, for depreciation on building and plant, etc., together with last year' 3 balance, there was a surplus of £SOO 3s 2d. It was resolved by_ the meeting to pay (5 per cent, on paid up capital, a bonus of Ud per lb butter fat supplied, a bonus of £25 to the manager, and £lO to the secretary. The quantity of butter made was 3s tons 1221bs nearly double la3t year'? output, and the price paid for butter fat was ll:}d per lb. The average over-run was 19.42. The prospects for the coming season were bright and in anticipation extensive additions had beon made to the factory and plant, so that now the factory was equipped to handle the supply from 5000 cows. The bank overdraft by the halfpenny upon butter fat and 5 per cent, depreciation had been reduced by £360. The auditors, Messrs English and Luxford, of Hamilton, had made their report which was considered highly satisfactory. The president invited free dicsussion whereupon Mr Petrie expressed pleasure at the continued reduction of the company's indebtedness to the bank and the fact that with a continued increase in a very few years there would be no bank liability. It was decided to empower the directors to appoint the auditors for the next year. Notice of motion had been given by Mr Ward that no shareholder can take the office of director before signing the guarnatee. This was seconded by Mr Collins, and carried unanimously. _ The election of directors resulted in the tbree. retiring directors, Messrs Collins, Nelson a»d Riddle, being reelected. . Before dispersing the president thanked all for their attendance and exhorted them all to dn their beat to
increase the supply, as the increase of last year had effected a saving of a farthing per lb m manufacture. lie also announced that Messrs Dimock and Co. for the future would be prepared to buy fat bacon pigs in Aria. - At" a subsequent meeting of directors Mr C. J. Riddle waa re-elected chairman. Mr and Mrs McDonald very kindly provided refreshments which the inclemency of the weather helped r,l! to thoroughly aopreeiate. They were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. BACHELORS' BALL. On Friday evening the bachelors' ball was held in the Aria Hall, There were about GO present and the music was supplied by Mr J. Cooper and Mr Taylor, piano and violin respectively. Mr E. West was M.C. Dancing was indulged in until the early hours of the morning, all thoroughly enjoying themselves.
