The High Commissioner's cable, dated August 2nd, is as follows, quotations, unless otherwise specified are market prices on spot:— Meat.—Generally the market is dull, and very little business doing. Dull sale for all qualities.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— TE AWAMUTU DAIRY COW SALE We held a special sale of dairy cows and heifers in the Te Awamutu yards on Thursday last, when we submitted an extra large entry. The stock was in good condition and very choice quality, and there was keen competition right through by the numerous buyers present, and the whole entry changed hands at most satisfactory prices. A dairy herd of 41 cows, on account of Messrs Redgate Bros., from £7 to £l2 ss, cows on aeount of Mr J. Reaton, £-5 15s to £7 10s, 50 Jersey-Hoistein cross heifers on account of Mr F.
